What ages can register?

Ages: T-Ball (Coed ages 5-6), as of September 1st of the season year)

Boys 6 & 7/8 Coach Pitch, (as of May 1st of the season year)           

Boys Baseball 9-19 (as of May 1st of the season year)

Girls: 7/8 Coach Pitch, Softball 9-18 (as of January 1st of the season year)

 

What equipment do I need to purchase for my child?

 Glove, bat, cleats, pants, sock, but please check with the Coach.  He can give you more information on type & size.  T-Ball : Please check with your coach about the uniform and equipment. 

 

If my child is 6 years old and has never played or I do not feel they are ready to move up to Coach Pitch can they play T-ball?   

Yes, they may play T-ball if they are 6.  However a child must be the age of 6 as of May 1st to move up to Coach Pitch and has played 1 year of T-Ball with PYB/S.  This is per the PYB/S League Rule Book, no exceptions. 

 

What do I need to do to coach my child’s team?   After you set up an account you will see a “Volunteer” tab at the top of the page where you can select Coach or Assistant Coach.  You will then be required to fill out the information page.

You can go under the “Volunteer” tab under your account and fill out the information page.  

 

Can I request my child to have a particular coach or for my child to be placed with friends?

You may make that request on the registration but it is not guarantee that it will be possible.  We try our best to accommodate but it is not always feasible. We will put siblings on the same team, who play in  the same age group, if requested.

 

When will the drafts begin? What happens after that?  

Drafts are attentively scheduled to begin mid March. Different age groups will have different Draft nights. T-ball and coach pitch drafts will begin around the end of March or beginning of April. Dates for when the season begins depends on how Easter falls. The spring season starts with practices in March and may run through the 2nd week of June with games.  You and/or your child do not need to be present at the draft. Once the draft is over you will receive a call from a coach to let you know when your child is scheduled to practice and where.  Please make sure your phone number is entered correct during registration.  Due to a large number of players, not all practices will be at the PARD Park.  Also make sure you know your coaches name and phone number.  

 

How many times a week will my child practice?   

   At least once a week.  It depends on the coach.  During school only your child is limited to 3 events a week. This includes games.  Some age groups may start practice season before others due to different start dates. 

 

How many games a week will my child have?

Each team will play 2 games a week, weather permitting. 

 

Where are the games played? 

All games will be at the Ponchatoula Recreation Park located at 19030 Ponchatoula Park Drive, Ponchatoula, La   

 

When are the games played?

Games will be played week nights and possibility some Saturdays (that is to be determined at a later date). Game schedules are subject to change due to weather.  

 

What do the registration fees cover?

League fee, insurance, equipment, field maintenance and other.

 

What equipment do I need to purchase for my child?

Glove, bat, cleats, socks, pants, please check with the Coach, he can give you information on the type of cleats, bats & let you know if anything else is needed.  

 

Are shirts covered in the registration fee?

No. Sponsorship pays for the shirts.  If you know a business/individuals who would like to sponsor a team see “Sponsorship” information at the end. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE SHIRT SIZE IS CORRECT ON YOUR REGISTRATION. During registration shirts are available to try on at the PARD office.

 

What about rain outs?

  Rain outs are determined on the weather and the field condition from earlier rain.  Make-up games will be determined at a later date.  Your coach will be contacted by a league officer when the decision is made about make-up games.  Your coach will then notify you and updates will be made via PYB/S Facebook, PARD website, & the PARD Facebook page.

 

How will I know if a “Rain Out” has been called?

   Your child’s coach will be contacted and the coach will contact you.  It will be posted on Facebook and a text or email will be sent out by “Rained Out.com”.
